Mercer Lions sponsored a talk at the Mercer School on April 16th with Lion Leader Dog promoter Carroll Jackson and dog Hunter. He has been legally blind since the sixth grade. he has been an industrial technology teacher in a public school and Principal of the Ohio State School for the Blind. He has had many recognitions of his humanitarian service through Lionism. Carroll recieved Leader Dog "Hunter" in January 2008 and together they demonstrate the independence that can be achieved by persons who are blind when they receive the appropriate traning from Leader Dogs for the Blind. Two talks were done, one with Mercer high school students and one with the elementary students. All were very interested in Mr. Jackson's talk and how Hunter followed commands. It gave a whole new picture as to how the blind are able to live and cope in our sighted world.
